“Trumpeter Swans have been a lifelong passion of mine and this past year marked the 50th anniversary of my first Trumpeter Swan painting done when I was 13 years old. At that time they were critically endangered and fewer than 70 trumpeters remained in the world. The extinction of the species was a critical possibility. They are the largest bird in North America and the largest waterfall in the world. Through the hard work of conservation biologists and volunteers, they have made a remarkable come back and now they number several thousand. There are several hundred which winter near my home each year and I am out there watching them most evenings.” Andrew Peters
