John Coleman Little Medicine Girl Native American Indian female figure figurative western bronze sculpture

“In native culture, a medicine man or woman is someone who brings healing and wisdom to their people through spiritual rejuvenation and communal harmony.  Children are sometimes considered to be endowed with these healing powers as well.

When creating my new piece, which is a little Pow Wow dancer, she reminded me of a little Navajo model that I had once used.  Her family, possibly because of her special powers, gave her the nickname of Little Medicine Girl.”   John Coleman
