Nancy Guzik biography:
Nancy Guzik is an oil and pastel artist of figures and still lifes. She first earned attention in the mid-1980s when she won awards from the Midwest Pastel Society.
She grew up in the Midwest and entered the field of television animation before receiving a scholarship to study advanced painting with William Parks at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. Subsequently she studied at the Lyme Academy in Connecticut.
One of her early teachers was Richard Schmid, whom she married in 1998, and they moved from Colorado to Manchester Center, Vermont where they lived in a farmhouse built in 1789. Currently, they live in Walpole, New Hampshire. She credits Richard as being the major influence on her painting technique.
Her work has been exhibited at the Governor’s Invitational Art Show in Loveland, Colorado; the Palette and Chisel Academy in Chicago; the Minnesota Miniature Show in Minneapolis, and the Southern Vermont Art Center in Manchester.
