William Schneider biography:
William A. Schneider is a distinguished artist known for his mastery in oil and pastel mediums. His artistic journey began after studying art at the University of Illinois at Urbana. Despite initially pursuing a career in the music industry and later in finance, Schneider’s passion for art persisted. In 1990, he enrolled in the Saturday Program at the American Academy of Art in Chicago, where he honed his skills in figure drawing and oil painting under renowned mentors such as William Parks and Ted Smuskiewicz.
Over the years, Schneider’s dedication to his craft deepened as he participated in workshops led by esteemed artists like Carolyn Anderson, Dan Gerhartz, and Richard Schmid. These experiences enriched his technique and artistic vision, guiding him towards a style that captures the emotional essence of his subjects, whether figures, landscapes, or still life.
In 2010, Schneider made the pivotal decision to fully commit to his art career, selling his stake in DiMeo Schneider and Associates (now Fiducient Advisors). This transition marked a new chapter, allowing him to focus entirely on his passion for painting.
Schneider’s choice of mediums, oil and pastel, reflects his artistic philosophy. He appreciates how pastel’s soft edges and impressionistic qualities enhance his ability to convey the subtleties of light and form, particularly in capturing the translucence of flesh.
Throughout his career, Schneider’s artwork has garnered significant recognition. His pieces have been featured in various prestigious publications and exhibitions, and he has received numerous awards, including 1st Place in the Portrait Society of America’s Members Exhibition and the Prix de Pastel (Best of Show) in the International Association of Pastel Societies’ Biennial Exhibition. His painting “Morning Meditation” earned him the John Steven Jones purchase award, securing its place in a museum’s permanent collection.
William’s journey from a successful finance career to becoming a celebrated full-time artist underscores his unwavering passion for art and dedication to mastering his craft, making him a notable figure in the contemporary art scene.
