Karin Hollebeke biography:
Karin Hollebeke, a professional artist since 1972, currently lives, paints and ranches in Utah. Hollebeke first became interested in art while in her teens, and consequently studied Fine Art and Art History, Sculpture, Illustration and Design. After the family moved to El Paso, Texas, she learned about ranch life firsthand, a lifestyle that sparked her interest in Western Art. A lifelong fascination with the Old West led her into oil painting and sculpture about the West. After moving to Utah, in order to pursue her interest in sculpture, Hollebeke studied the basics with Ed Fraughton, whose work she had greatly admired. Tom Lovell, another veteran Western artist, significantly influenced her painting style. His advice guided her to finding her own style, which has earned her international recognition. In 1995, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation chose one of her paintings as a collector series print, and the University of Nebraska Press used two of her paintings for book covers titled Covered Wagon Women. In 1998, her artwork was included in the book Art of the American West, published by Rockport Publishers. Hollebeke’s work has been exhibited at the Booth Museum of Western Art (in permanent collection), Eiteljorg Museum, Tucson Museum of Art, Mountain Oyster Club in Tucson, and the Desert Caballeros Western Museum.
