Colorado River plain enroute to Grandby, Colorado
“Enroute to a plein air event in Rocky Mountain National Park, my journey takes me along the meadows and rich ranchlands of the Colorado River plain. Steep cuts in the river bank contrast with tall cottonwood lining the shore. Sporadic wildfires through the summer left a haze in the air turning the distant peaks of the Gore Range softer and more muted than ever. Soon it will be time for the first cutting of these tall, waving hay fields edged here and there with a splash of colorful wildflowers. I just had to stop and paint this setting.” Darcie Peet
