“A fall trip to explore the San Juan mountains near Telluride, Colorado, took us by ranch country at the base of the unusual and jagged mountains.  Long, long fall shadows swept across meandering and patterned fields already cut and harvested for winter, while a few remaining, lavender asters and dried, grass seedheads along with the ranch buildings brilliantly caught the last rays of sun and were silhouetted against the deep shadows.”   Darcie Peet
