Christie’s Auction house in New York hosted a multiple day event bringing “The Collection of Peggy and David Rockefeller” to the buying public. Many auction records fell, including Claude Monet’s “Nymphéas en Flour” which realized $84,687,500. A record was set as the entire collection sold for $832,600,000, the highest ever surpassing the Collection of Yves Saint Laurent et Pierre Bergé (totaling $443 million). Other highlights included Pablo Picasso’s “Fillette à la Corbeille Fleurie” ($115,000,000) and Georges Seurat “La rade de Grandcamp (Le port de Grandcamp)” ($34,062,500).
