“The Restigouche River is a world class Atlantic salmon river in eastern Canada, one which I have visited on several occasions. The scene depicted is at Tom’s Brook Salmon Club. There is a sharp bend in the river where a very large gravel bar remains exposed in the summertime. During my last stay at that camp, I had noticed how bald eagles would regularly fly overhead. As I looked down at the river from on high, in my mind, I could picture a scene of eagles, also viewed from above, following the river’s course. I thought that this could be a really interesting painting and jumped on to the idea as soon as I got home.” Claudio D’Angelo
